Kauai vacationing ideas and observations

Some thoughts to keep in mind as there are activities for all types of recreational enthusiasts. 

Snorkeling, surfing and swimming are best on the northern part of the island in the summer and fall due to the winds that come from the northeast and become windier on the south side for towns like poip'u and surrounding resorts.

Northern and eastern side are geared toward the lunch crowd with a minimum of dinner choices and plethora of lunch choices with our favorites Bubba's Burgers and Chicken In A Barrel and shaved ice shops every few blocks with some incredibly delicious unique flavors and custom flavors that accommodate any sweet tooth :)

Areas to visit for shopping include hanaleI and kapoa.   Deals to be had if you are diligent in your shopping exploits.  ABC stores is a favorite.

Last observation I have is that always allow yourself extra transit time. Primary artery highway 56 gets clogged just like traffice during rush hour on the mainland and stoplights are a plenty.  Be safe and enjoy this garden isle.  It is truly a a paradise.
